The season continues to be going well with the yard reaching it's most prizemoney ever won in a season since we have been training.  With two weeks still to go hopefully we can get a few more winners on the board and up the prizemoney a litttle.   The last two winners for us have both been greys with Florrie Knox winning up at Wetherby after being consistently placed in his previous ru...

The New Year have seen the horses keep up there form with Big Jim a runneraway winner at Warwick.  Great for his Owners who were all there to see him get in the winners enclosure again.  His last run before Warwick had seen him a little under par but he bounced back again in great style to win from the front.   Duel At Dawn also ran that day and was a great 2nd, he just met a very...

2018 has blown in here at Alex Hales Racing with bitterly cold winds and rain.  That said, nothing can dampen the mood in camp as the first half of the National Hunt season has brought us 7 winners with 14 horses being placed (lots of 2nds/nearly winners) and over £73 000 in prizemoney.  The horses have been running well and the quality in the yard is improving all of the time. &n...

Last week at 9 years old Isaac Bell was having his first run on the flat.  It was really a prep race before the season starts, the rest of the field were either 3 or 4 year old so we were not really expecting a huge amount.  Isaac had other ideas and after being perfectly settled in mid div by Luke Morris, as he got into the final furlong he put his head dow...

The morning of our Open Day was bright if a little breezy and it was a fingers crossed that we did not get any rain.  It was great to see so many owners for our annual gathering and many new faces.  After a wander around the yard to see the horses in the stables we paraded 30 horses, all very well behaved and looking well in themselves.  By this point we'd had a ...

The horses continue to run well with Dandilion being 2nd at Bath last Thursday followed by The Otmoor Poet finishing 3rd at Bangor On Dee.   Tomorrow sees Take Two going up to Haydock trying to make it two in a row with Jamie again riding.  In the other direction Golden Harbour goes to Chelmsford having his first run for us.   The Open Day is on Sunday, everything is having...

With nearly all of the horses back in after their summer break we are back to every stable having a head over the door.  We have lots of new faces this year with Topper Thornton, Florrie Knox and Tower Of Allen joining us at the beginning of the summer, all purchased for new syndicates.  More recently Harbour Watch, Tuscany Poppy and Shiroccodee arrived at Trafford Bridge all of wh...

It has been a great start to the season with Running Wolf getting his head in front finally after he has finished so close on numerous occasions over the last season.  It was an action packed race but Trevor Whelan gave him an inspired ride and managed to keep out of trouble to steer Wolfie to the front and cross the line in front.   Last week we had Methag runnin...

Ultimatum Du Roy rounded the season off with a fine win up at Market Rasen.  A track he always seems to run well at he did not disappoint under a super ride by Harry Bannister.  We'd also had a 2nd earlier on in the afternoon with Crafty Roberto who was as ever his consitent self.      Roy's win brought mean't we equalled our best number of winners for the seas...

A busy week which started on Bank Holiday Monday with Methag and The Otmoor Poet up at Fakenham and Crafty Roberto at Market Rasen.  The Otmoor Poet was coming back after a break and did well to finish 4th.  Methag could not quite get into the race, as they went very quick for her as they tend to at Fakenham which was disappointing but she is fine and will be back out shortly.&...

Saturday was a fantastic day for The Duel Of Dawn Racing Partnership when their fella kept up his great form for the season by winning up at Bangor.  Under a never say die ride by Kielan Woods, Duel after leading for most of the race then losing the lead he fought his way back to win just on the line.  So pleased for his Ownesr, the horse and Kielan, all much deserved.  ...

Since our last news we have managed to get quite a few places but only one geting past the post first and that was Dandilion who had to weave her way through the field to get her nose in front.  I think the roof was raised off of the stands at Wolverhampton that night by her owners The Golden Horse Racing Club and they celebrated way into the night.  Gr...

Another winner here at Trafford Bridge with Indian Native running a superb race to win up at Hereford.  The ground was awful, rather like a ploughed field but she managed to keep on galloping through it and made it look easy in the end.  So pleased for her Owner, Bill Booth, who is a huge National Hunt enthusiast.     We thought it may be a double on the day with Scoo...

The last week has been very busy but definitely worth the hectc time!    On Tuesday Running Wolf finally got his chance to race after all of the frost and what a performance he put up at Leicester to be beaten a short head in the Novices Chase.  A great ride by Kielan Woods and Wolfie battled right to the line but just couldnot beat the favourite.   On W...

January has certainly come in with a cold blast, having lost quite a few days to frost we have not had that many runners.   Take Two ran really well at Kempton under our Amateur jockey Jamie Brace.  It was Jamie's first ride under rules (although he has completed many Point to Points) and he was very professional and gave TT a great ride to finish 3rd only beaten 2 lengths.  ...

It was great to start the 2017 with a winner.  Shinooki improved on his 2nd place last time out to slog his way home to win at Fakenham on New Years Day.  Although the fields were quite small, the non stop rain all day made it quite hard work but with a fair bit of encouragement from Wayne Hutchinson, he got his nose in front when it mattered.   We we...

Boxing Day was a very up and down day with our runners.  Scooter Boy, Crafty Roberto, Ultimatum Du Roy and Isaac Bell all made the trip up to Market Rasen.  Scooter Boy pulled up after pulling his shoe off and standing on a nail, Roy never really got into the race and was pulled up, Crafty ran his usual race and finished midfield and Isaac ran very well to be 2nd and was pipped on ...

Many apologies for the delay in updating, a crashing computer has not helped the cause!!   Anyway since my last up date we have had three winners and the horses all running really well.   Crafty Roberto was revitalised up at Market Rasen with first time blinkers on and back over hurdles to put in a great victory where he toughed it out right to the line.  Great fo...

As we still await the rain the horses we have been able to run have not disappointed.  Crafty Roberto made the trip up to Fakenham for his first outing of the 'new' season and ran very well to finish 2nd.  He travelled and jumped very well, maybe as he gets older he may need a little further which might be a plan for next time but we were pleased enough with the run.   &nb...

At the moment the lorries are very busy taking the string galloping to Lambourn.  Last week we took six down and today we have taken eight horses down.  It is a very good way to see where we are fitness wise and also helps the younger horses used to travelling away from the yard.   From what we have work wise we are nearly spot on (hopefully!).  A number of the horses w...
