Wow, what a peformance from For Pleasure yesterday at Cheltenham.  He was one of the outsiders of the field but did not run like that.  He went straight to the front as he always and within a minute had a twenty length lead.  Harry Bannister did a great job getting him settled in front and he just kept galloping.  He came to the home turn and the Skelton horse was after h...

It was a great week for Alex Hales Racing last week.  On the saturday we took four runners up to Market Rasen, Hiconic, Swilly Sunset, Say Nothing and Sun Rising Hill.  Hiconic was a very short priced favourite but got pushed back to second place by a very nice horse of Amy Murphy's.  She did nothing wrong and we will freshen her up and she will be out again soon.   Say...

Just Marvin made it 8 for team Hales for the season as he won on his season debut up at Uttoxeter yesterday.  He was ridden by Conor Brace as it was a conditional jockeys race.  Marvin was settled at the back as he took a very keen hold, Conor did really well to keep him there as he was pulling like a tank!  He jumped really well and slowly made his way around the field after ...

What a superstar For Pleasure is turning out to be.  After already winning two from the front he went to Stratford again on Saturday and did exactly the same thing again.  The tapes went up and he was off, Harry Bannister as previously giving him a superb ride and they went on to beat the course record.  So pleased for his Owners, Simon and Sam Mullaney, who are over the moon ...

It has been a busy week with runners and all have been running well.   Last week we had Swilly Sunset and Love The Well up at Market Rasen in the same race.  Both horses had been off for a while due to Covid 19 but they both ran well with Love The Well finishing 3rd and Swilly finishing 4th.  They will definitely come on for the race and should be back out again soon. ...

Yesterday we took Hiconic up to Bangor for her 2nd run over hurdles.  She was a hot favourite after winning so easily on her debut at Newton Abbot.  When you have a hot favourite it is always a worry and there were quite a few horses in the field who were having their first run over hurdles.  She did not disappoint and led from the start to finish for her second victory in the...

After the long lockdown we are now back racing, although in a much different way.  With no Owners orignally allowed to go along and watch their horse, we are now allowed to take two owners per horse along.  We are slowly getting there and hopefully in the near future a more normal service will be resumed.   A few of the dual purpose horses had a spin on the flat as soon as w...

The 2019/20 season has been amazing for us with our most ever prizemoney won going over the 200K mark and our most winners with 20.  We were hoping for a flying finish to the season but unfortunately we have been halted in our tracks by the Coronavirus.  This has ended the season with no racing until the end of April which is the official end of the season anyway.   We had a great...

Well what a weekend it has been.  With storm Dennis sending the Country into Chaos we were wondering if any racing would go ahead but thank goodness it did.   We took Smooth Stepper, Fagan and Rough Night up to Haydock.  Rough Night ran well but did not seem to be quite himself, Fagan ran very well after coming back from a long lay off.  The star of the show Smooth Stepper wa...

After quite a quite January when we have not had many runners, Roy started February off with a bang.  He is now 12 years young but you would not have thought it the way he ran yesterday at Market Rasen.  He had his ears pricked and jumped for fun to win by 18 lengths under a superb ride by Kielan Woods.  So thrilled for everybody concerned, he is such a lovely horse and had been a f...

What an amazing week, we have three runners and all have won, bringing the winners to the season to 17 and we have gone over the 100k mark in prizemoney!!   Rough Night went to Warwick in his 2nd chase in the most horrible conditions due to all of the rain and made all to win by a really good margin.  He did really well as the track looked like a ploughed field.  Thrilled his owne...

Saturday saw the yard have three runners, Florrie Knox and Millers Bank at Bangor and Dandilion on the flat at Lingfield.   Florrie Knox was having his first run over fences and there was a real hot pot in his race rated 147.  We were keen for him to have a nice clear run around, mission accomplished and he managed to finish a good 3rd.  His owners were thrilled as were we and I t...

After a slightly frustrating week, Flowaway cheered everybody up by winning at Uttoxeter!   Last week we took The Drone & Maria Magdalena up to Catterick, both standing good chances of either winning or going close. The Drone ran first, travelled well throughout the race but the ground had definitely gone to soft for him and after being prominent for most of the race he finished well do...

We had four runners at Huntingdon yesterday, which turned out to be a bit of an up and down day.  Mountain Ranger, who has had quite a few issues, pulled up in the Novice Chase.  The Owners have decided to retire him as he does not seem in love with the game anymore.  We will endeavour to find him a lovely forever home now.   Ultimatum Du Roy was having his first run for over...

The good form continued last week with two 2nds, a 3rd, a 4th and two 5ths!   We took The Drone, Musical Stardust and Millers Bank up to Fakenham.  Millers Bank was having his first run over hurdles and ran a super race to finish 2nd behind a horse that looks to have a very bright future.  He has come out of the race well and will hopefully go on from that run.   Musical St...

What an amazing week, it is now four winners out of four runners in the last week.  Jonjoela led from the start to finish in the last at Plumpton yesterday under a superb ride by Harry Bannister.  She is very new to the yard, her first run for us and her first win after 23 starts.  So pleased for her Owner the In The Pink Partnership, they were absolutely thrilled as you can imagine...

Well what a last week it has been, we have had three runners and all of them have won.  Firstly Jimmi Chew at Huntingdon, then the very consistant Maria Magdalena won up at Wetherby, that is 3 wins over hurdles and one on the flat over the last four months.  Last but not least Flowaway made her hurdling debut at Market Rasen.  Considering the amount of schooling she has done s...
