Frost Free Nearly!
Firstly I hope you all had a good Christmas and enjoyed some good racing on Boxing Day.
Since my last update we have only had a couple of runners mainly due to the weather. On the Monday before Christmas Take Teo ran at Wolverhampton. The trip was slightly short for him but he put up a really good performance and did not finish that far behind the winner. He was definitely more like his old self and over a longer trip next time he will go close.
On Boxing Day we only ran Roseneath at Huntingdon. He had blinkers back on and travelled very well throughtout the Race. In hindsight he probably went a little too quick early on and ran out of juice in the home straight but was still a very respectable 3rd.
Then the frost came! A bit of a shock to the system with temperatures here getting down to -6. Today has been the only lost days racing which has troubled us with Uttoxeter being abandoned meaning Vaillant Creek and Gilzean were all dressed up with nowhere to go. Gilly also held an entry for Fakenham tomorrow which we have declared him for along with Isaac Bell and Shinooki. Fingers crossed we can start 2015 off in a good way.
I have put some photographs in the gallery of the horses on the grass gallops which you may be interested in having a look at. A big thank you for Sarah Matthews, one if our Edging Ahead members, for taking such great photos. She came up a few weeks ago with the Cheltenham Racing Club who we had a really good morning with. I am hoping to get some of the Open Day photographs on the website when I have a spare second, a bit late I know!
Finally a Happy, Healthy and Successful New Year to you all from everybody at Alex Hales Racing.
