End Of The Season

Saturday saw the end of the 2018-2019 season.  For us it has been a bit of an up and down season for many reasons.  We had a great start with The Drone and Mister Fizz flying through the summer.  The Drone won one race was second once and third twice before he had a break.  Mister Fizz won three on the bounce for us in the space of a month which amazing.  The horses ran really well throughout the first half of the season and then we got hit with a low grade virus where the horses were not particularly sick but not running up to their full potential.   

The Equine Flu episode came along where we were put on lockdown for 10 days as we had a runner at the same course as Donald McCain who had the flu in his yard.  We had to swab and vaccinate all of the horses which put us out of action for over two weeks in total.

The last month of the season saw the horses coming back to their normal healthy selves.  Huntsman Son won impressively at Newbury and went onto Cheltenham where he ran a cracking race.  Unfortunately it was the one day the heavens opened and made the ground far to soft for him but he still ran very well.

Emily Webb who has been a new recruit to the yard this season has given her owners plenty of fun and put up a great performance to be 4th at Cheltenham.

The Drone finished the season off for us in great style with a super win up at Southwell and it was nearly a double on the day when the very tough Ceara Be just got caught on the line.

Although this season we have had a lack of rain, low grade virus and niggling injuries we have still had our second best season prize money wise, which is great.  With lots of new horses in the yard and with a few orders for the sales there is much to look forward to for next season.
