Smooth Stepper Storms Home At Carlisle
Smooth Stepper, who is a yard favourite, stormed home to win easily up at Carlisle on Sunday. He is 12 now and qualifies for the Veterans races. Though they are for older horses they can be very hot contests and this was not any different. He sat mid division for most of the race and then coming to the last took the lead and in the end won by a good margin. It was nice for him not to have a real slog, as he has done in recent races and he crossed the line with his ears pricked. A great ride once again by Harry Bannister, who won the National Trial on him last year and also a great result for his owner, Ben Brackenbury. The Brackenbury family are great supporters of the yard and it was brilliant to see Stepper win for them again.
