Yesterday we had four runners at Fakenham, the lorry trundled off at 7am with Running Wolf, Shinooki, Come On Harriet and Ogaritmo. Not a particularly close to home track but the horses tend to run well there so it is somewhere we like to go to.

Running Wolf was the first runner, he started off as favourite after he ran really well last time.  Conor Shoemark took the ride as it was a conditional jockeys race.  Conor gave him a peach of a ride, Wolfie jumped and travelled really well and came past the post first.  A great start to the day.  By the way we still have shares available in a running awolf if anybody is interested.

Next Shinooki was going for a 3 timer, he has won at the last two Meetings at Fakenham but he had to run with a 7lb penalty due to winning last week.  The handicapper has given him a hefty 13lb rise so we thought wise he run with the 7lb penalty before the 13lb comes into force.  He ran another great race, he hated the ground but he is very tough and stayed onto be 3rd.  The season he has won 3 times, been 2nd 3 times and been 3rd twice, form you definitely can't knock.

Next Come On Harriet was giving her 2nd run over hurdles in a mares only race.  Again she hated the ground but jumped well and finished mid division.  More experience for her which is all good and after her next run she will get a handicap mark.

Finally we had Ogaritmo who has had a break since her last run and was in flying form.  All was going well until the last hurdle where she was disputing the lead when she took a horrific fall.  She lay on the ground for what seemed like an age but finally got up which got a huge roar from the crowd and a big sigh of relief from us.  She was really trying when she fell and did not deserve that but thankfully she is ok but very stiff.  Yesterday was a proof of the up and downs of racing.

We were supposed to be at Huntingdon today but they had temperature down to -7 last night and the meeting was abandoned 1st thing.  Midnight Chorister has an entry on Monday at Ludlow, Royaume Bleu has entries at Plumpton on Monday and Lingfield on Tuesday.
