Smooth Stepper Wins The Grand National Trial!

Well what a weekend it has been.  With storm Dennis sending the Country into Chaos we were wondering if any racing would go ahead but thank goodness it did.

We took Smooth Stepper, Fagan and Rough Night up to Haydock.  Rough Night ran well but did not seem to be quite himself, Fagan ran very well after coming back from a long lay off.  The star of the show Smooth Stepper was taking on many horses entered for the Grand National in terrible conditions but he had bottom weight and felt he should run well.  Harry Bannister gave him a masterful ride, he slowly crept through the field to be laying 2nd coming to the last.  He jumped the last upsides and then showed how tough he was getting up to win be just over a length.

We were so thrilled for his Owners the Brackenbury's and for everybody in the yard.  It is the biggest win for Alex Hales Racing and hopefully we can carry on with the horses running well until the end of the season.
