It has been a very busy couple of weeks with horses knocking on the door with 2nd's and 3rd's but not quite getting to that number one spot.  That is until Gilzean who has not been on the track for over 500 days took the trip up to Market Rasen with Vaillant Creek.  The first runner of the day was actually at Leicester where Isaac Bell ran.  We had high hopes that he could break the spell of being placed but not winning but although he was leading over the last he still got caught and ended up 3rd.

Vaillant Creek, who is a different horse this year, led from the start to within 3 lengths of the finishing line only to be caught.  Our hopes of a winner that day were not looking great with only Gilzean left to run and with such a long break and also the fact that he still had his summer tummy which was proving impossible to get rid of, it was not looking great.  He pulled like a train for the first two miles and as he turned in for home we thought he had run his race but he got a second wind and battled on to win by a good margin.  Daryl Jacobs said afterwards he did not know who was most exhausted the horse or him.  A great result for the Racing Club and the horse who fingers crossed has come out of the race well.

All of the horses are running well, Shinooki who was 2nd the day before Gilzean's win has now been placed 2nd three times in a row.  Isaac Bell has been 2nd and 3rd, Royaume Bleu has been 3rd, Allnecessaryforce ran really well in a hot Novice Hurdle, we just need to turn those places into winners and the stats will look great!

This weekend we run Ultimatium Du Roy and Royal Supreme at Lingfield and Royal Barge goes to Southwell on Sunday.  First run for Barge for us and she has been off of the track for a while but has schooled well and seems in fine form.  Roy's race is very hot and it will be a tough task being the first run of the season for him.  We may have a couple of runners at Plumpton on Monday as long as we do not have a deluge, the forecast is not great!
