Back Racing

After the long lockdown we are now back racing, although in a much different way.  With no Owners orignally allowed to go along and watch their horse, we are now allowed to take two owners per horse along.  We are slowly getting there and hopefully in the near future a more normal service will be resumed.

A few of the dual purpose horses had a spin on the flat as soon as we were allowed to race and now they are making their return over the hurdles.  Hiconic went down to Newton Abbot this week, having her first ever run over hurdles.  She had a prep race on the flat, this must have put her spot on as she led from start to finish and was able to put a number one against her name.  Great for the Golden Equinox Racing Club who are flying with their runners since the resuumption of racing.

Yesterday, a new recruit to the yard Say Nothing, had her first run over hurdles.  Again she lead from the tapes going up but just need the run and ended up a very repsectable 3rd behind a good horse of Harry Frys.  Say Nothing is a lovely looking horse and hopefully she will provide her new syndicate with lots to look forward to.

Tomorrow, For Pleasure goes to Market Rasen.  He has had a couple of runs on the flat and has been slightly disappointing, although he does take a very keen hold.  If we can get him to settle he has a fair engine and going back over hurdles may help his cause.

Alex has been at the sales all week and bought a lovely breeze up horse yesterday.  He has another order to fill so is up there again today.  It has been a difficult time trying to buy horses with many of the sales cancelled or postponed.  We are very pleased with yesterdays purchase, fingers crossed we can buy another superstar today.
