Busy, Busy, Busy
It seems to have been a very busy couple of weeks with runners, half term activities etc. Last week was a mixed bag of results, at Fakenham Gilzean, as ever, ran his heart out to be 3rd. The track is probably slightly tight for him but one thing he does is try and he will come on for the race. Midnight Chorister and Running Wolf both ran well, Running Wolf again could have needed the race which some of ours are this year and Midnight Chorister was slightly disappointing. He has a tricky character and we have been running him in a hood but I think maybe it is time for the hood to come off as now he seems to have gone to the other extreme and is too laid back!
Cliffmeena ran a blinder for her first ever run at Lingfield. She is a very uncomplicated filly and takes everything in her stride. She jumped well from the stalls and put her head down and galloped. We will try and get another run into her in the not to distant future. Crafty Roberto went to Stratford and was in the process of running a really good race but the final few furlongs found him out and again he will come on for the race.
Yesterday we took Stepover to Stratford who we were chuffed with. When we ran her last season she got a bit buzzy but she was a lot calmer and ran superbly to be 5th in what looked a very hot bumper. A great result as she is owned by the late David Allen, who bred her and he would have been really pleased I am sure.
Scooter Boy went to Chepstow for the bumper. He has had a long time off of the track and we were hopeful of a good run but obviously wary that he had not run for a very long time. He did get quite wound up at the start and pulled very hard. He led for the majority of the race but his hard pulling cost him dear and he finished down the field. He again will definitely come on for the race.
Today we have 6 runners, Big Jim and Allnecessaryforce go to Market Rasen and Barenice, Salut Honore, Vaillant Creek and Coco Flower go to Towcester. It has been raining non stop but should suit all of today runners. Safe home all.
